Sean Carnage, Online Editor — This weekend, I will be raving about Reasons To Be Cheerful, an absolutely delightful blog dedicated to the graphic design of two classic British artists, Brian Griffin and Barney Bubbles. With visual avant-gardists like Lady Gaga back at the top of the charts, Bubbles' and Griffin's artworks are being reconsidered item by item on this blog. RTBC always passes on new info about the designerly duo's impressive clients—many of whom are still taking risks (like Depeche Mode, who have a new documentary, and Elvis Costello, who has a new Sundance Channel music 'n talk show starting December 8).
Zach Sire, Associate Editor: So after last weekend in Palm Springs and the weekend before that in San Diego, I am not doing ANYTHING this weekend except for laundry, spending quality time with my dog (that sounds weird but it's not, we just spoon), and curling up with my favorite American author's new book, Going Rogue.
This political memoir is said to be a real tour de force, and thanks to a friend at HarperCollins, I have an advance copy that I plan on reading this weekend right before I slit my wrists.
The rest of your Unzipped editorial staff is doing far more than I am. After the jump, take a peek at their off-the-clock escapades...

—Two weekends ago I put together a new Ikea bed frame. This weekend I am going to have some naughty fun at Palm Springs Pride (looking forward especially to the BUTT screenings). So I was thinking, what if you put Ikea and naughty fun together? Voila! Something just like the new publications from Bookkake, who encourage you to "flat pack on your back."
Sez Bookakke: "CRØSS is a wall-mounted and simplified version of the classic Crux decussata,
or St. Andrew’s Cross, one of the most common items to be found in the
professional dungeon, and now affordable for the amateur. STÖCK
is a more weighty appliance for the restraint of the willing partner,
complete with secure base to prevent toppling injuries, while SHPANK is, well, you get the idea…" Fun!

—This weekend I'm all about Designated Dialer and DrunkDial, two apps that prevent you from drunk dialing on your iPhone. Designated Dialer locks up specific contacts you don't want to call while tipsy; DrunkDial makes you answer some basic math questions in a certain amount of time before it unlocks your contacts. Super smart if you've ever made one of those regretful calls.
Zach Sire, Associate Editor—I'm spending the weekend in Palm Springs, where I'll be doing this, and probably this, but if I get home in time on Sunday, I am definitely going to see Precious. Between Monique, an unrecognizable Mariah Carey (who, as Sandra Bernhard said, has "shed her butterfly wings"), and what is looking like an Oscar-nominated performance from newcomer Gabourey Sidibe, one of these ladies better make me cry! The trailer:
Winston Gieseke, Managing Editor—The hubby and I are looking forward to a little gardening fun after a trip to our neighborhood Home Depot. (Seriously, is Homo Depot the gayest place ever or what? There's never a shortage of hotties cruising the aisles for hoses, tools, and the plentiful screw options. If they had a bar and some Donna Summer they could start charging a cover.) After that, I'll probably keep the gayness flowing by watching my new fabulicious Just Say Julie DVD.
Michael Matson, Photo Editor—My friend John Munt and I are traveling to our hometown to attend a memorial service. John is a musician, so
he will be sharing some of his music during the drive. If it turns out that I have any down time, my plan is to read some more of the short stories
in Dennis Cooper’s new book, Ugly Man.
Zach Sire, Associate Editor—I'm
taking the train down to San Diego for a mini-vacation this weekend, so
if I'm not back on Monday, check the Amtrak station for a passed out
drunk on the tracks. If I do make it home, I'll be watching Curb Your Enthusiasm
on Sunday night. In case you missed it, here's the ending to last
week's episode, which was the funniest episode of the season so far:
Winston Gieseke, Managing Editor—Since I already did the Halloween thing last week (here's what I went as, in case you're curious), the hubby and I are going to chill this weekend, hand out candy to the neighborhood kiddies and watchThe Rocky Horror Picture Show. It's not technically a Halloween movie, but it's about freaks and dressing up, so it's the next best thing. Plus the music rocks.

—Before going out Halloween night, I'm doing laundry. Glamorous, I know. But while rinsing my undies I'll be reading Pamela Russell's hysterical book of poems, B Is for Bad Poetry.
Her non-canonical oeuvre (fancy word, no?) includes: Tea For Two (A
Tragedy); Nietzsche And The Ice-Cream Truck; Capitalism Can Fall Not
Like I Fell For You; Inappropriately Touched By An Angel; Love Is Like
A Toilet Bowl; and many more. Who knew bad poetry could be so good?
Michael Matson, Photo Editor—In addition to looking for treats (rather than a trick), I will be watching 1967’s Mad Monster Party, the best Halloween movie ever made, IMHO. It’s a stop-motion masterpiece, made by the same guys who did Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and features Boris Karloff, Phyllis Diller and a groovy band of skeletons singing “The Mummy.” Click here to watch the trailer.

Sasha Fralova is a Russian singer/performance artist. She wears skintight
latex bodysuits (not unlike the Slick It Up gear we profiled in Unzipped) and sings into an ice cream cone-shaped mic with Aquaaerobika. The music is excellent—the best I've heard all year. I hope you can check it out.
We did this little round-up last week, and now we are going to do it again! What are your Unzipped editors doing this weekend? Sadly, none of us are having cocktails with Cody Kyler, but we've still got some fun things on our agenda. Find out what we're up to and what we're thinking about as we head into the weekend...
Your Unzipped staff is getting ready for tonight's party at MJ's in Silver Lake (seriously, we're like running out the door right now), but we wanted to let you know what we'll be up to, and what we'll be talking about over cocktails tonight and tomorrow and, for some of us, Sunday. Here's what's on our minds as we head out for the weekend:
