It's Wednesday afternoon here in sunny California, but it isn't Hump Day or the amazing weather that's making us happy. It's the fact that the Fox network (the entertainment network, not its gross corporate cousin, Fox News) aired the debut of its highly anticipated musical comedy show, Glee.
This wasn't just a fun little comedy with wacky characters (more than a few of them gay), great acting (Jane Lynch, you are God) and out-of-this-world production numbers ("Rehab" slayed!). It was pure, blissful, unadulterated magic! When those kids took to the stage to belt out their brilliantly Broadway (and—yay!—un-ironic) cover of Journey's classic (yes, we said it) "Don't Stop Believin'," it was the moment that every chess nerd, chorus singer, or drama club fag had been waiting for all their lives. Seriously, if you didn't have chills running down your spine and a tear in your eye by the end of that song, then we're scared for your black heart.
We still hate Fox for filling the world with the likes of Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and Ryan Seacrest—not to mention Clay Aiken—and we're not very happy that we have to wait ALL FREAKIN' SUMMER for Glee to return, but watch the above promo for the show and perhaps you too might feel that all is (almost) right with the world again. Don't stop believin', kids! (Oh, and if you missed the show last night, you can still redeem yourself by downloading it—for free, no less—from iTunes. What are you waiting for?)
